It wasn’t long before Sammy had talked his way into a job for the summer delivering the local paper, ‘The Current News’. Sammy’s Mom and Dad were very disappointed that their family holiday was not going to be the way they had planned, but they were proud of Sammy for wanting to work and they trusted him. So they were soon on their way, after many tearful goodbyes. It wasn’t long before Sammy quit his job and he and Sharklee were hanging out and doing all the things that Sharklee had promised. One day, not long afterwards, Sammy got up well past lunch time and was sitting on Sharklee’s couch feeling sick from all the junk food he had eaten the night before. He had received a personalized postcard the day before, showing all his family laughing and having a good time playing one of the camp games together. Sammy started to miss them, and wished he had gone along on the family holiday. How was he going to explain to his parents when they got home about quitting his job and spending the summer with Sharklee doing nothing? He hadn’t thought of that before. He was also starting to feel very guilty about the movies he was watching.
“My parents trusted me,” Sammy thought, “And now I’ve blown it!” Sammy started to cry, and he cried and cried. After a while, he fell into a fitful sleep on Sharklee’s couch.
