How did sin begin?

Read Genesis 3:1-7

Sin is a terrible thing. It is all of those things that we think or do or say that break God’s laws. Genesis, the book of beginnings tells us how sin got started too. You see, it all started with Satan and his lies.

Satan disguised as a serpent asked Eve a question in verse 1. “Can you eat the fruit of every tree in the Garden?” “Yes”, she replied, “except for the special tree in the centre, if we eat it or even touch it, we will die.” Then Satan lied, “you will not die...you will be like God, knowing good and evil”.

Eve did a terrible thing then, she disobeyed God! She took the fruit and ate it and shared it with Adam. Satan lied and Adam and Eve disobeyed God. That was how sin got started on earth.

Dear God. You made a beautiful world and people have messed it up with sin. Please help me to learn more about you so that I can stay away from sin. In Jesus Name. Amen.
