Read Matthew 1:18-23 today.
In Genesis we learned that Satan had lied to Eve. Eve then ate the fruit from the tree that God had told Adam and Eve not to eat from. God told Satan that because of what he had done he would always have to crawl on his belly. God also said that one day He would send a Saviour. The Saviour would defeat Satan and take the punishment for the sins of all who asked to be forgiven. When God makes a promise that is going to happen at a latter time it is called a prophecy. The Saviour that God promised is the Lord Jesus. In the New Testament we can read about how the Lord Jesus came to earth. He came as a baby and He grew and He learned. He was still God the entire time, but with the body of a human being.
Keep track, on a page in your notebook, of all of the names (nicknames) that we learn about the Lord Jesus. Monday we learned that He is also called The Word, today, the Saviour and Immanuel.
